Since I already finished the required 3D models, I decided to work on some other additional assets that are in 2D.
In our shot 4, we are going to see our protagonist lift up her head. According to our pre-vis concept, we wanted her eyes to have some special integration as well. I also created some animation to make it even cooler too. This is the final video that I passed it on to Nick as he is responsible for shot 4.
Eye Animation

When creating the eye asset, I was looking back at the concept that I made at the beginning of our project. I tried to replicate it to the concept, however, as I was creating it, I decided to add some more details to make it more interesting.

I created the replicate in Photoshop. It was a combination of a lot of layers and blending tools. At first I use made the ring inside the eye the same yellow as the outside, however, it did not stand out as much as I wanted it to, especially when placed in a dark environment. I decided to make it glows by creating a combination of a solid white color and a yellow glowing one underneath, which gave me the effect that I wanted.
I also realized that I should add a small light reflection on top of the pupils so that it does not looks weird when Nick composite it on top of the actor's eyes.

When creating the eye, I did not know how to create some patterns and effects though Photoshop, but I realized that I can easily create that in Substance Designer, especially I already have a pattern that I created in the beginning that I ended up not using it for any of the model. I definitely made use of it to create some cool effects for the eye instead.

Once I was done with the work in Photoshop, I exported my file into Adobe After Effects to create a small animation. I have used After Effects before in the past, but I am still not used to the program as much as I wish I could be. There were a few things that I need to research while creating the animation, whether it is masking or importing file from Photoshop.
While, I was working on this, I was glad that a lot of it is similar to sequencer in Unreal Engine, so I did not spend too much time to get used to the program at all.

Nick then managed to put the eyes onto our clean cut and it is looking very cool!

This is a our clean cut for week 8 check point.
